Margaret Catchpole (1762 - 1819) estis konata virino de Suffolk. Oni mortkondamnis sxin cxar sxi sxtelis cxevalon. (Tiu estis tiam la kutima puno por cxi tiu krimo). Tamen la familio Cobbold, de kiu sxi sxtelis la cxevalon, propetis por sxi, kaj oni sxparis sxin.

Poste sxi eskapis de pundomo - oni rekaptis sxin kaj transportis sxin al Auxstralion en 1801.

Tie Margaret havis pli bonan vivon - sxi ege laboris, ricevis pardonon kaj igxis akusxistino, antaux ol sxia morto en 1819.

Margaret Catchpole (1762 - 1819) was a notorious Suffolk woman.

She was sentenced to death for stealing a horse. (It was the usual punishment for this crime then). However the Cobbold family, from whom she stole the horse, interceded on her behalf and she was spared.

She later escaped from prison, was recaptured & transported to Australia in 1801.

There Margaret had a better life -she worked hard, received a pardon and became a mid-wife, before her death in 1819.
