Debenham

The sheaves on the sign show Debenham’s connection with the now famous Chevallier barley.
In 1820 a labourer planted an exceptionally large barley ear, which had stuck to his shoe, and gave the results to his landlord Dr. John Chevallier, who later marketed it.

La faskoj sur la signo montras la kunigon de Debenham al la nunfama Chevallier hordeo. En 1820 laboristo plantis escepte grandan hordspikon, kiu estis gluigxita al sia sxuo, kaj donis la rezultojn al lia luiganto, Doktoro Johano Chevallier, kiu pli poste merkatis gxin.
